How conservative am I?
How conservative am I? More conservative than Colin Powell, but not as conservative as George Bush père, according to this test. (HT: Althouse.)
My score: 22. Actually, just about right in the middle, which is what I've always claimed.
I scored 18. IMHO, by positing a simple liberal/conservative continuum, both the test and the questions end up reflecting an overly simplistic paradigm. The test on the Political Compass website (http://www.politicalcompass.org) is much more revealing. The questions are more subtle and it’s biaxial graph (the x axis representing liberal to libertarianISM; the y axis representing authoritarianism to libertarian) is more telling. On this test, I am positioned slightly southwest of center. I believe this says more about me than my supposed place on the liberal/conservative continuum. Try it – you’ll like it.
Thanks, Carl. I did take the test you mentioned. I'm still almost dead center, but slightly to the northwest of the biaxial graph. The closest world figure to my position is Pope Benedict XVI. So I'm in good company.
Uh oh, I got a fifteen. I'm not as liberal as I thought!
ReplyDeleteNice test.
I got a 7 and I think I'm right in the middle! :-)

ReplyDeleteI too took the the test Carl suggested . . . & came out right where I thought I would, squarely in between Gandhi & the Dalai Lama. Uh-oh . . .
